Fundamental criteria for obtaining the gait pattern in Cuban children

Abstract

The gait pattern in childhood is constantly changing as a result of the neuroanatomical maturation of growth. Currently, the purpose of the Gait Laboratory of the “Julio Díaz” National Rehabilitation Hospital is to obtain the gait pattern in Cuban children. The objective of this work is to propose the fundamental aspects that will contribute to the determination of the normal gait pattern in Cuban children. After having carried out a bibliographic search, it was defined that the children participating in the study must meet several inclusion criteria so that the pattern is as complete and general as possible. In addition, there are several parameters to measure and different methods of gait study, which are analyzed to then select those that will provide the information and results necessary for the formation of the gait pattern.
