Abstract

Dengue is a disease that affects a large part of the world's population, constitutes one of the main
epidemiological hazards, so it has become an event whose surveillance, prevention and control, special
interest in the health and science of our country. The Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology
(CIGB) of Havana, advances in a strategy created for the production of vaccination candidates of the
four virus serotypes. The studies carried out were carried out in the technological development area of
the center, and take place through a discontinuous fermentation process. The tests were carried out in
zaranda for 24 h with a temperature of 37 ° C and an agitation of 180. In this work a balance of mass and
energy is made using the Matlab 8.5 computer program, in order to obtain a model that predicts the
maximum amount of biomass, which can be obtained in a chemically defined medium to obtain E. coli
expressing the DII protein. The maximum cell growth speed obtained was 0, 52 h
-1
the amount of biomass obtained was 2, 02 g/l with a yield of 0, 58. It was detected from the mass balance that 3, 96 g
of ammonium sulfide in the MDG medium were excessively.
