Abstract

Fidel Castro's role in the scientific development and technological independence of the country has been and will be an aspect to be highlighted within its most virtuous characteristics. The presence of his ideas is notable in the face of the current remains of today's Cuba. Actions carried out in favor of technological independence by the Commander in Chief, were many; On this occasion, the presence of leadership in each of the processes that Cuba was facing will be analyzed in detail. Taking as a case study the Energy Revolution in Cuba, this was totally devised by him. The Cuban energy revolution was framed between the years 2004-2008, going through a strategy consisting of five main measures, having the joint presence of Fidel's revolutionary ideal and the complementation of the scientific knowledge of specialists. All of this aimed at promoting sustainable development. The Cuban Energy Revolution would serve as an example for regions around the world; it meant a step forward for the technological independence of the Island, improvement of the quality of life of the population as a whole, strongly highlighting the socialist character of the Revolution. The Cuban historical leader promoted awareness about the importance of scientific development for the nation and developing countries. Taking the Energy Revolution in Cuba as an example, the role of Fidel in the scientific development and technological independence of the country is evident.
